CAWI, short for Computer Assisted Web Interviewing, is a methodology where respondents complete a questionnaire presented on a web platform. This approach enables the integration of multimedia elements—such as images, videos, audio, and links to external web pages—to enhance respondent understanding of the product or service in question. CAWI surveys are equipped with advanced self-routing capabilities, allowing the path of questions to adapt dynamically based on prior responses. This routing can range from straightforward to highly intricate, depending on the survey’s design.

While our primary focus has traditionally been CATI (Computer Assisted Telephone Interviewing), in recent years, we have established a robust and proficient CAWI department to meet the evolving demands of digital data collection.

The Five Phases of CAWI Research

1. Project and Sample Management
The Project Manager (PM) acknowledges the email inputs provided by the client or facilitates Social Sampling as needed. Concurrently, they ensure the quality and accuracy of questionnaire translations before moving forward.

2. Programming and Output
The survey script is programmed and hosted by our Internal Research Specialists (IRS) using advanced tools like Sawtooth or The Survey System. Clients determine the preferred format for the data output—options include SPSS, Triple-S, Excel, or ASCII.

3. Launching the Survey
Once live, the survey is distributed to respondents, with consistent follow-ups for those who either dropped out or did not start the survey.

4. Quality Control
Our Project Managers and data specialists continuously monitor the data collection process, ensuring questionnaires function as intended and quotas are met. They address any critical issues that might arise in real-time during this phase.

5. Data Management
From survey launch to data collection completion, our data managers play a vital role in guaranteeing top-quality data processing. They validate the data at every step, structure it in the client’s requested format, and finalize everything for seamless delivery.
